Guns line up on Simulated Pheasant drive

The combination of superb scenery and great company is what many of us go game shooting for, plus of course the joy of taking home and eating the game we shoot. Simulated game shooting has all the thrills, all the fun, all the scenery and all the good companionship and typically warmer and dryer weather, but unfortunately you cant eat what you shoot!

Here at Burnworthy (located near the Somerset/Devon border on the Blackdown Hills) we believe that our experience in running a successful game shoot means we have now established a well run, unique and new experience in both game shooting and clay shooting with the introduction of simulated shooting.  The clays are presented in the same way you would expect to shoot live game with the guns positioned in exactly the same way.

Simulated game shooting has all the thrills, all the fun, all the scenery (the stunning back drop of the Somerset and Devon countryside) and all the good companionship, It's an ideal way to entertain your friends or make new ones. Simulated game days have all the trappings of a traditional game shoot but the targets are clay pigeons. The experienced on site gamekeeper is able to re create a variety of different drives catering for all levels of abilities.

A range of different drives are usually offered representing pheasants over woods, partridge over steep banks, grouse and even duck or pigeon flighting!

We see simulated shooting as an affordable alternative to game shooting which can be offered all year round.  However for the more experienced game shooters who enjoy shooting game during the traditional shooting season, participating in simulated shooting outside of the shooting season is an ideal way to continue your love of shooting during the warmer months at a much more affordable cost.

We are not solely focused on experienced shooters, for us seeing someone taking to shooting for the first time and excelling at it but more importantly enjoy it gives us great satisfaction.

Newcomers to shooting who want to learn how to shoot in the Somerset, Devon and surronding area and have not yet had much or any experience in shooting and are looking to get started, Burnworthy can offer very personal one on one coaching and simulated shooting is the perfect introduction. See tuition on the right hand side.

We will come to you if you wish to experience simulated shooting on your own estate.  The beauty of how simulated shooting works is that the traps are mobile and can be transported with ease.  So if your based in Somerset, Devon or anywhere else and wish to shoot at a place of your own then we will travel to you.

Burnworthy's shooting history
stretches back too the 1930’s when game shooting was first started and continued into the mid 1960's.  A natural break occurred until 1978 when a very successful duck and pheasant shoot was developed which continued up until 2009.  There's currently a break been taken from game shooting but it is expcted to return in the near future.

As an affordable alternative in 2006 simulated shooting was introduced where the bird (clay) can be guaranteed!
